Groundwork Greater Nottingham has experience of delivering the full range of preliminary and standard landscape architecture services defined by the Landscape Institute to produce hard and soft landscape designs, contract documentation and administration. We also bring the added benefit of a comprehensive consultation and engagement process as well as advice, guidance and support to secure capital funding through grant sources, providing added value to our clients and customers.

Summary of Services

Project Management:

  • We take a holistic approach to each project, managing every aspect from inception to completion.

Landscape Architecture:
Feasibility and Project Inception:

  • Meet with you to discuss your project, assess what your needs are and how you want the project to develop.

Site Assessment:

  • Visit the site to identify its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats
  • Obtain a topographical survey, service plans and identify the status of the land and its ownership including legal obligations through planning and environmental controls.

Sketch designs:

  • Develop sketch designs and cost estimates for the project from the initial consultation results
  • Develop the sketch plans to a detailed level approved by the community, landowner and other partners

Detailed designs:

  • Produce detailed drawings, including construction drawings, planting and layout plans
  • Produce specification, schedules of work and all necessary contract documents
  • Comply with CDM Regulations

Contract and Implementation:

  • Tender the capital works to a select list of contractors and select a contractor based on value for money
  • Perform Contract Administration duties including managing finances, quality and progress

Landscape Management:

  • Establish maintenance regimes and contracts enabling the ongoing upkeep of you project


  • Neighbourhood green space audits and masterplans

Consultation and Engagement:

  • Work in depth with local people to assess their needs, and how they would like to see the area improved
  • Work in partnership with the local community, landowner and other partners to develop sketch proposals


  • Identify sources of funding for your project
  • Submit funding applications for capital works and professional fees and manage the grant on your behalf


  • Submit planning applications where necessary and liaise with the Planning Department
  • Liaise with other relevant statutory bodies for approvals
