Waterloo Promenade

Waterloo Promenade

Waterloo Promenade is a historic tree-lined promenade which dates back to the 1900’s. In recent years it has become tired and unkempt. The promenade has suffered from access and security issues. A lack of parking restrictions meant that parked cars frequently caused damage to the mature trees and surfacing.

In order to solve these issues, and ensure that the promenade retained its valuable historic features, Groundwork Greater Nottingham worked in partnership with Nottingham City Council and Nottingham City Homes to improve access and safety. The tree-lined route was resurfaced with resin bound gravel and granite-sett edging, new railings installed, and hydraulic access bollards placed at entrance points to prevent cars from parking alongside the mature trees.

These improvements have changed the parking habits of local residents and helped to preserve the heritage of the site for future generations.
