This community scheme involved creating a new park for residents from Scargill Walk and Hopkin’s Court. These were public open spaces which suffered from vandalism, graffiti and anti-social behaviour. The two spaces were located minutes away from one another and were underused by the local community.
The works included the creation of a new linear walkway to link the two spaces. This involved the creation of seating areas, improvements to steps and other paved areas, the installation of bollards to restrict vehicular access, the installation of bespoke railings and the creation of new colourful, ornamental planting beds.
The residents of Scargill Walk and Hopkin’s Court now have access to a welcoming and attractive open space.
