 Valley Road Park

Groundwork Greater Nottingham worked with a local youth group and Nottingham City Council to raise funds, undertake consultation and deliver a skate park, multi-user games area and fitness area at Valley Road Park in Sherwood, Nottingham. The local community had limited access to open space and the youth group wanted to develop a facility to enhance sports and fitness activities for local people. The youth group partnered up with Groundwork Greater Nottingham to identify a location for the new equipment, to undertake consultation and develop proposals for the new scheme.

The identified site for the new facilities was located on a flood plain on Valley Road Park. The scheme was developed and designed to increase flood water storage, and minimise the negative impact on the surrounding environment. The scheme was developed to meet the requirements of statutory bodies such as the Environment Agency and Nottingham City Council Planning Department.
