Jackie Bells Play Area

Jackie Bells Play Area

Groundwork Greater Nottingham worked with Gedling Borough Council to improve an existing play area in Netherfield. The expansive site contained poor quality and outdated equipment including a Multi User Games Area, BMX track and small playground.

After extensive consultation with local children, two new play areas were designed and installed, one for 3-6 year olds and one for 6-12 year olds. The play equipment was chosen to be inclusive for children with ranging abilities. The existing MUGA and BMX track were updated and restored.

A more cohesive and exciting play environment was created by including elements of natural play such as boulders, tunnels and planting. Circulation routes through the park were improved and dogs were prevented from accessing the area. The new park is now a well used and is a valuable resource for families, young people and children.
