New Play Area Launched at the Stag Recreation Ground

Stag Recreation Ground Overall SiteCelebrations have been held to mark the final phase and completion of the Stag Recreation Ground play area project. Over the last two years, Groundwork Greater Nottingham have worked on behalf of Kimberley Town Council to improve the play facilities on the Stag Recreation Ground.

Extensive consultation with school children from Hollywell Primary School, Gilthill Primary School, Kimberley Primary School, Larkfields Junior School, The Kimberley School and also local adult residents of Kimberley has taken place on the design, layout and choice of play equipment.

As a result of the consultation and partnership working, the project has seen the delivery of two phases of improvements. A new toddler play area and junior play area has been created, with 15 new and up to date pieces of play equipment installed on the site with the creation of new access and circulation routes, seating and litter bins as well as new tree planting and a wildflower meadow.

To mark the completion of the project, an opening event was held on the site to formally open the new play area. Local school children and local residents were invited, as well as representatives from Kimberley Town Council, Broxtowe Borough Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and representatives from Landfill Tax Funders WREN and VEOLIA.
